Different designs have different amounts chronograph brand. They can have up to four quadrants, and each line has a unique function.
The most common of these is located in the center of the main side, close to the number nine. This is the continuum of seconds.
The sub-areas tend to have other functions that measure the fractions of seconds, minutes and hours. Sometimes they have a dial-called tachometer that measures the speed, and sometimes even a rangefinder that measures distance.
Pressing a button on the side of chronograph watches can function as a stopwatch. A miniature dial recording starts passing seconds. The other sub-areas so start measuring minutes and hours spent with the timer.
