Is kept running while wearing it and stops when you leave for a few hours, then that's normal. The mechanism responds to movement, and the clock stops when you're not using with In order to conserve battery power. If you stop while you're using, that's not right, have it checked out. Either the new battery is defective, in which case I guess the warranty will cover it, or something is wrong with the mechanism.
